On Monday morning there was a few inches of new snow on the ground. But around 10am, with the sun out, the snow quickly melted. It was a good day of skiing at Keystone. In the evening we went to the Breckebridge River House to listen to Cajun music. It was a fun filled evening.

The snow continued this morning. It was very light and not much accumulation The snow is going to continue off and on thru Tuesday. After breakfast we went to the Willowbrook local snow shoe trail. It really is a local's place. As we arrived, we saw a sign warning about Moose in the area. It gave you the precautions to take if you encounter them. The trail was very narrow and went up into the mountains. As you got higher on the mountain the snow got deeper. If you went off the trail, the snow measured easily 3 1/2 feet on either side of the trail. But the view is worth it.

This morning started out COLD. It was -1 degree. But by 9am it warmed to +10 just in time for the Rump to Stomp Breast Cancer 5K Snow Shoe walk. Mom and her friend Pat enjoyed the walk and the breakfast pancakes before the walk. It was a scene of PINK. There were over 2200 people which raised over $118,000 for the event. In the afternoon it turned colder with the clouds moving in. The forecast is for snow beginning tonight and going thru Tuesday night. Winter may be back. Some interesting snow totals for Denver. They have had only 18" of snow so far this year. I guess the people on the East Coast wished that.

We had about 4 inches of snow overnight. The snow continued in the morning, in fact we had some thunder snow. We heard a report that I-70, which is the major roadway East and West, was closed at Vail Pass due to numerous accidents. It closed at 3pm yesterday until 2am this morning. Keystone provided power skiing for those who made it today. We enjoyed the afternoon sun and power.

After a light snow overnight, it continued to snow off and on during the day. It was a wet snow in town, but at the top of Keystone is was all power. The slopes weren't crowded, but we are being told that Spring Break begins next week. They are expecting HUGE crowds. We will see. The temp in Denver with sunny skies was 64 degrees. I think this is warmer than Neptune NJ or Camden Maine. Maybe everyone should come out here. We played ball with Benny but the ball quickly becomes a snowball.

Today we went to Araphoe Basin (A-Basin). A-Basin is the highest ski area in Colorado at 13,060 feet. You need to adjust to the altitude. The other areas around here are at 11,000 feet. This is the local's place to ski. It isn't fancy but has some of the most challenging trails in the area. You can ski either the East or West wall. Just watch out for the ROCKS. They have a ICE bar at the mid-station restaurant. You can really get a COLD drink. You don't have to worry about the trees. 50% of the trails are above the tree line. It is all WHITE up there. You often see skiers climbing the rocks so that they can get to the top and ski down. It is ONLY for EXPERTS.

Today was one of the only days I didn't have to clean the car of morning snow. The weather has REALLY changed with very mild temps. While it is cold in the early morning ( around 10 degrees at 7am) it warms into the low 20s by 10am and into the high 30s by 1pm. Alot of melting and Spring skiing conditions. We skied at Copper Mt today. We were able to get 2 for 1 tickets so it was only $96 for both of us. Copper Mt is right off the exit of rt 70. So it is a easy Mountain to get to. The fire pit was lit but there wasn't a need for it. From the top of the mountain you can see the parking lot, the village and rt70 highway. One of the major kids attraction is the tubing run. It is LONG.
